"In Bruges" featuring Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell
This movie is one of the best films I had seen in a while when I first looked it up, and I have seen a lot of movies. Not to say people haven't seen movies I haven't because there are a lot of movies I haven't seen, some by choice.
In Bruges, Belgium, a fairy-tale place, two hitmen arrive on hiatus from a job went wrong while they wait for orders from the boss-man. The sensitive nature of the tragedy at hand, the character depth shown by the lead roles, and the quick-witty banter works in perfect harmony. You'd think Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell were best friends for years before the movie, with their prtrayal of the characters in this film. Definitely worth the watch. Brendan Gleeson and the Irish film community in general have been producing films that get better and better every year.
Something unique that often comes from the Irish film community is tragically smart comedy. If you watch this, you'll see everything from what happens when you karate-chop a midget, when you pick up a bottle, shoot someone with a blank, and fall in love in Belgium to dropping coins in a crowded area. Enjoy.
For future notice: I am a huge Brendan Gleeson fan, so quite a few of the movies I review may very well be with him in it somewhere. Although I promise I will spread it around. I like to review bad movies and TV shows too. Goota vent the air sometimes, eh?
