Your weekly S.I.P.:

"You get your sip, from my Sip."

For this week's Sip, we take a look at a Romantic Comedy I dreamed up not too long ago.

Synopsis:

What does a modern day pirate look like? How about one without a boat? A crew? Robby Winston is a sleezy bum who fancies himself a pirate, seducing women and robbing them blind in the process. When this sleezy pirate robs a police officer on a cruise ship in open waters, the cop must stick to him like glue in order to insure justice is served when they arrive back at the States.

Inspirations:

I first thought of this idea when I was thinking about Matthew McConaughey's career. I had just finished watching Dallas Buyers Club and I thought back over his career, how he came from Clueless to the role in Dallas Buyers Club. With the quick mental flashes of his movies I've seen began to mash a picture of a bum, (as my train of thought corrected) "no, a pirate."

I thought of Fool's Gold, how slick he is in some of his roles, and it came together for me. The first sentence of the synopsis is what came to mind. Then I had pictured some new-age pirate, and how he seduces women on cruise ships and robs them while they sleep. I pictured him being thrown overboard just a quater-mile from shore as he was reported by an angry woman and I laughed.

Progress:

This script is a little over halfway through the outlining process. After I finish the script I am working on right now, it will be a toss up between this idea and a few others, mainly the ambulance driver, What Happened in Danville? (your next Sip), The Three Muska-peers (the Sip after that), or this one.
