The Transition: From Politics to Film

For anyone who blogs for a readership, you know it's hard work. But imagine if your priorities changed, and so all the friends you needed to have change with them. That's what is happening to me.
For the longest time, I was a political activist as well as a politician. I ran (still do, although inactive) a political organization called Defenders of the Constituion (DotC) read dot-C. With the reputation I carried. I had amassed a ton of friends with various political backgrounds, the majority of which were Libertarian. For a good six years I pursued a career in politics: helping local, statewide, and National candidates with activism, giving talks to youth organizations and political organizations, managing campaigns, etc... All the while I still was in pursuance of my writing career as I had from the time I was about 8. During my politicing phase, my writing focused more on poetry, which I believe to be one of the most effective ways to have your political voice heard. I was still working on various novels, I had written a play once when I was young, but politics was my focus.
Now, I write screenplays. Although a lot of my politics still influences a lot of what goes on in my screenplays, the circle I ran in just doesn't give attention to that sort of thing. An example: my most recent Sip is talking about my idea for how to re-invent Robin Hood. Now from the start, it may not seem that this is political at all, when in fact, my idea stems from the inspiration I received while reading "V for Vendetta", where Robin Hood resembles a vigilante more-so than a good guy. This in conjunction with the general story being somewhat political, this film would be great for my Libertarian audience, but alas they go unread.
If you don't understand what the problem is, allow me to try to illustrate this: my "friends" care about politics, and a lot of my posts nowadays are my blog concerning movie reviews and my headliner: Screenplay In Progress. In other words, I get the strong sense of defeat anytime I look at a post and it says: Reached 138 people, 2 clicks.... See my point?
The point of this infuriating rant, is that I have a tough transition ahead of me. The transition from Politics to Entertainment. And nothing seems more difficult right now than cutting ties with these people to expand my horizons and meet people with simliar interests.
